Crims (TV3 and 3Cat) and Un True Crime by Carles Porta (Movistar Plus+) are documentary series that narrate real crimes with a cinematic thriller structure, produced by Goroka and True Crime Factory. Their hallmark is journalistic rigor, narrative rhythm, and utmost respect for the victims: the focus is not on the crime itself, but on the investigation and the human stories behind each case. Therefore, interview lighting, staging, and reconstructions are key elements in achieving the atmosphere of tension and seriousness that characterizes their productions.

With cinematic quality standards applied to television and streaming, Carles Porta’s team trusts AVisual STUDIOS Madrid and Barcelona. They also work with AVisual PRO and SHOP equipment for productions across Spain.

We interviewed Robert Gil, Production Assistant, to learn about his experience working with AVisual.

Your relationship with AVisual has evolved with the growth of your projects: in the early days of CRIMS (seasons 1 and 2), you rented all the equipment; then, for seasons 3, 4, and 5, you decided to come and record interviews at our STUDIOS with several consecutive monthly bookings; and for season 6, you decided to set up your own set and purchase equipment from AVisual SHOP.
In the case of UN TRUE CRIME, you have recorded in both Barcelona and Madrid STUDIOS, in addition to renting equipment for shoots across Spain.
What equipment do you usually rent now?

It depends on the project. For Crims, since we shoot on our own set, we have our own equipment acquired directly from AVisual, and we only rent one lens from them.

However, with Un True Crime by Carles Porta, the approach is completely different. As these are national cases, we travel throughout Spain to conduct interviews in different locations. For this project, we rent most of the equipment, and the experience has always been impeccable; in case of any inconvenience, they have always been there to find a solution.

Why did you rent it from AVisual?
Because for projects with this level of demand, with itinerant sets and such tight production schedules, you need a supplier who is a true ally.
